Here at Shady Blue, I plan all my breedings in hopes to get something that will help further my breeding program and get me one step closer to my goal, my goal of producing my ideal amstaff. I do NOT plan my breedings in hopes to get the next big winning show dog. I take EVERYTHING into consideration when I plan a breeding. Just a few examples, temperament, structure, health, intelligence, type of drive, what motivates each parent, how easy are they to train, their parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in some instances, their previous offspring. There is so much to consider when planning a breeding. I get asked a lot for a specific color, I do NOT breed for specific color. Ask yourself these couple of questions, would you rather have a the most beautiful dog you've ever seen, but you cant stand it's personality, or it is riddled with health issues? or would you rather have a dog that is a good fit for your family? one that lives a normal life, and is a joy to have around? For most I know the answer. This is why I take everything else into consideration and do NOT breed specifically for the show ring, and do NOT breed specifically for color.
Reading the above will hopefully clear up the "WHY" behind why I require that photos and updates are sent back to me regularly. I am not selling a puppy like it's a pair of shoes from a store. I am placing a puppy/dog into a home that I trust will care for and love that puppy for it's lifetime! When you get a puppy from my kennel, you are gaining access to my personal knowledge, I will always be available to help out with training questions or any other questions that you might have for the life of that dog! In order to know that I am going in the right direction with my program, I NEED to see all of the pups produced and how they look and act when mature. I need to know if they have any quirks, or any health issues. I NEED to see pictures. If you do not have intentions of staying in touch and keeping me up to date on the puppy/dog, then I advise you to go elsewhere!!! Also, I raise my puppies in my home, I DO get attached to them. It makes me sad to see them leave every time. Knowing that they are going to homes that will send back pictures to show me how much joy the dog brings to their family, makes it easier on me.
My website is a work in progress, feel free to browse through it and hopefully get a good sense for what is most important to me. You will find lots of my amstaffs with their families, kids, babies, other dogs, and other animals. Temperament is key for this this breed.
Keep in mind when scrolling through my website, you can click on pictures of the dogs and if they have a page of their own, it will take you to it. You can click through several generations of my dogs, or dogs that I have had in my care by doing this.
This is a page where I put all of my breedings and each pup from the breedings. I am PROUD of ALL the dogs produced here. Whether they go on to be successful in the show ring, obedience rings, service dogs, or live out their entire lives as much loved companions, I am proud of them all. I would like to challenge other breeders to take the same pride in their breeding programs. I challenge other breeders to stop hiding what they've produced. "People cannot learn from things that are hidden." I love this breed and I'm here to help it continue on and continue to be true to what it should be for future generations. If other breeders can learn from the breedings I've done, even if it's what combinations should not be done, then it is still helping the breed.
